HISTORYThe inception of IPC Bethel blossomed in the mind of Bro. Varghese Chacko (Charlie) during 1984. The vast number of Keralites in this city prompted him to establish a congregation. Prayer meetings began to be held at his residence soon after Pr. Godwin & co-workers ministered in the region. Gradually, through the intervention of Br. George Varghese, a building was rented & coined as an outstation ministry. While this remained as an outstation ministry, regular gatherings took place at Br. Varghese Chacko’s residence. Few believers along with his relatives met for fellowship every Sunday evening. In 1985, the IPC leadership appointed Pr. Varghese Matthew to give leadership to this gathering. Sunday fellowships were held in the mornings and began to receive monetary aid from Pr. T T Joseph. Pr. Varghese Matthew invested painstaking efforts across T. Dasarahalli and its surroundings. These were the initials to forming the church.
Simultaneously, members at Laggere allowed gatherings at their homes paving way for locales to know the Lord. Thereafter, Pr. P G Wilson succeeded Pr. Varghese Matthew and the fellowships occurred at the rented facility behind the T. Dasarahalli Bus stand. However, need for an independent place of worship was felt and the location was shifted to Chokkasandra. Pr. P G Wilson engaged in its realization. The present location was identified & acquired in the year 1991. Pr. M C Dethose who was to leave the country made sure that his operations were merged with the IPC. However, in midst of various tedious times, the church construction was completed and became operational by 1994. The church was dedicated to the Lord on 29th October, 1994 and the worship has been fruitful and a blessing to the neighboring places ever since. Kannada worship: - Though the Kannada service started with very few members, God grew the ministry and a hall was built to accommodate this. Presently, a committed full time Evangelist is appointed to cope up with the needs of the developing church. English worship: - English service started as a youth fellowship but today it functions as a full-fledged unit with a dedicated Pastor to it. |
